  • Ladybugs "Fly Away Home" to Downtown Street Trees

    April 24, 2013

    Approximately 150,000 ladybugs will make Elements City's downtown street trees their new home over the next six weeks as City Parks crews conduct their annual ladybug release to protect the trees from aphids. Ladybugs are a beneficial insect that eat pests such as aphids, beetle larvae and spider mites which feed on Victoria gardens.

  • Johnson Street Bridge Construction to Start in May

    Construction of the new Johnson Street Bridge will begin in May. The current bridge will remain open to pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles, and marine traffic until the new bridge opens in late 2015.

  • Crosswalk Repairs on Government Street

    April 10, 2013

    Starting this Saturday, crews will begin repair work to the brick crosswalks along Government Street, between Yates and Humboldt. Work to improve the safety and accessibility of the crosswalks will occur on weekends over the next six weeks, weather permitting.

    Thank you for counting your blossoms Element City! We were named the winning municipality in the 37th Annual Flower Count having counted the most flowers during the past week, totalling 296,825,068. The final Flower Count reached a total of 762,742,426 flowers. The Element City came in as the leading municipality for the third consecutive year.
